Dense phase pneumatic conveying is the ideal method of transferring abrasive, friable, or mixed-batch materials. The system design transports the material along a pipe in a plug form at relatively low velocities, which means less wear and tear on both the system and the materials being conveyed. The design also promotes the efficient use of compressed air or other inert gases, ensuring lower power consumption and operating costs. Our ORBINOX ‘CW’ series high integrity knife gate valve technology was selected for use on a demanding process application. The valves were automated with double acting pneumatic actuators, and fitted with our proprietary PneuLINK™ linear-to-rotary integrated control platform. The local control panel included our customised logic for FAIL SAFE closed function, via a remote mounted reservoir, in the event of catastrophic air failure on site.
