Biogas typically refers to a mixture of different gases produced by the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. Biogas is primarily methane and carbon dioxide, and can have varying amounts of H2S, moisture and siloxanes present. The amount of H2S and moisture present, will dictate the liner material selection, critical to the valves performance, as the H2S can condense with water to form sulfuric acid.
Our sister company, InterApp, produces our DESPONIA series resilient seated butterfly valve technology in Spain, in sizes DN25 – DN1600 (1” – 64”), offering field proven reliable bubble tight isolation for these arduous applications.
This batch of DESPONIA series butterfly valves are destined for use on a Biogas plant, as the primary “slam shut” isolation valves on the gas lines. The specification demanded complete SS316 construction, with our proprietary ‘VD’ liner technology, and automated with our IA Motion single acting pneumatic actuators c/w our PneuQEV™ product, a NAMUR mount quick exhaust valve system, that ensures these valves close in <0.5 second.
